Washington, DC | Family/First Birthday

Family sessions in DC are quickly becoming one of my most favorite things. This family (which also doubled as a first birthday) session was the kick start to my weekend, and left me smiling for hours.

I have a crazy love for details and how details make me feel. This light-filled condo, in a 1930’s DC building, was so cozy and beautiful. There was a mail chute (there is probably an actual term for this, but whatevs), and the little peepholes on the condo doors were actual little gold-colored, circular, latched, swinging doors!

But the family, oh my gosh. This little girl is so happy, and just wants to be close to her mom and dad, and be read to. Her mom pointed out this adorable thing that baby girl does when she sits and chews on her favorite toys — curls her feet together. Simple things, right? For both parent and child.

Simple things I love? Good lemonade (because it’s easy to ef it up), new leaves on plants, brightness in the morning so that the transition to waking is at least pretty, and the burnt edges on pancakes.

I hope your week is like this session was. Music-filled, calm, and lit just perfectly.
