Springfield, VA Engagement Session: D&J

What does the word “Forever” mean to you? Really, how HUGE is that word? In a past life, seeing that word written down drove me to really think on the meaning of it, and eventually take a step off that path, and keep on walking. Forever, now, means a tie to the family I’ve built with my love. And a tie to the dream of being truly present for them by continuing to walk a different path.

Every time I look back at the portraits from this super refreshing session, I think about this word, and how light it can be, and how heavy it can be. And I think about how all I felt during this session was light.

This couple was so playful and so gentle with each other. They ate up my prompts, but often gave me the gorgeousness before I even asked any questions. They told me they wanted as few buildings in their session as possible, that they wanted trees and green. I found that a location that I LOVE to shoot in holds so much sentimental value to the bride, so here we were. The birds were singing, it was July, and I needed a light jacket when I left the house to meet these guys.

They had the vision of the first portrait you see (with the word “FOREVER”). Forever together. And also, a hint of the bride’s father in her tattoo. Also forever, for her dad.
