Second Birthday: X

If you keep up with my Facebook posts, you already read about my surprise when super shy X turned and began talking to me. While I’ve always found the emotion in family moments so rewarding to capture on camera, I sometimes forget about the rewarding feeling when a shy kiddo talks to you. Makes me feel so special! Mom to a shy kid myself, I know it’s a big deal, and sometimes truly just hit or miss.

This Arlington, Virginia birthday party was so sweet to photograph. X’s family is dynamic and happy, and their neighborhood warm and friendly.
