Places: Portland (Post 2)

This morning, I woke up to the cold, and light rain. Mike and Jonathan took me to a coffee shop, Bipartisan Cafe. There, I drank the most delicious mocha and ate a croissant (I miss it now). We met a woman and her daughter. The woman owns a manufacturing shop, was wearing a comfortable looking sweater dress (which I’m sure she knitted herself), and had a stylish daughter, who, at around 5 years old, had picked out a super fresh outfit (I was jealous of her color variety) all by herself. Their plans for the morning? Chill at the coffee shop (daughter played with trains and Legos, mother on laptop), find gum, and make new handwarmers for the daughter. Hey, jealousy! Coffee? Crafts?? Yes, please.

Later in the afternoon, after some family photos, Mike, Andrea, Jonathan and I headed downtown. Chinese Gardens (and tea house), gorgeous views and shopping at the Old Town Saturday Market.

I’ve been dreaming about visiting Portland since high school. Thanks so much, you guys, for giving me a wonderful introduction to this unique (in the best way) city. What a refreshing vacay. I’ll be back.
