Fall family portraits in Springfield, VA

Sometimes blogging becomes a grounding exercise for me. I look back at sessions I did a month or more prior, and it pulls me out of the chaos of right now. One of my favorite things about looking back at portraits is that you tend to only remember the good things about when they were taken. Even if something was less than perfect, you can laugh at it, from over here, from outside of that moment. Why is that? Maybe it’s nostalgia. Maybe time filters the mess.

Lake Accotink in Springfield, VA (is it true that there’s a Springfield in every state? gonna Google) is a favorite spot of mine. This mama and I have become friends in the year since she booked me for this session, and I was excited that she agreed to bring her family here to meet me. Guys, parenting one toddler is a little crazy, parenting more than one means that you’re basically sweating all day, but parenting 3 toddlers, 2 who are twins? I bow down.

I laughed the entire time. I aw-ed, because, just look at how big sister loves them.

“I made a mistake and said we’d only have two,” said their dad with a gigantic smile and a laugh.

Life has ways, yeah? The love here was so tangible. I thank my clients, my friends, for sharing these times with me.
