About Me, Cerissa

Cerissa, DC/Northern Virginia PhotographerI’m Cerissa, a mom of two, wife, angler, nature lover, recovering concert addict, and a lifestyle photographer who loves pauses in conversation. The ones you think are awkward, or even tend not to notice. I have a soft spot for awkwardness. These moments are the ones that are so ordinary. So super ordinary that while in the moment, you think they’re unimportant, they’re the building blocks of your life.

Art has always been my connection to the world, how I come to understand myself and how I come to understand others. My road to becoming a photographer began about ten years ago, when I realized that photographing tiny details that I spent so much time paying attention to in my day, was art.

I’m a recovering 9-5er. The day I became a mother changed everything. I always thought I’d be EXACTLY the same, just, with a kid (now two kids). Of course, the core of who I am is constant. But becoming a mother added a brand new dimension, and after less than two years of being a wife, a mom, and a 9-5er, it was clear that I needed something different. Something that fed my days and my soul differently. This has done that and more. I thank everyone who supports this love of mine with all of who I am, because you help me to live how I always dreamt to—creatively.

In the beginning, I was a music lover (and don’t be surprised if I ask you about what music you love — let’s talk about it all). Music is something you take and you make yours… nobody feels any one song exactly the way you do. I feel the same about my work as a photographer. You invite me to experience time with you, and know I’ll make these moments mine, too.

Want to chat more, about how you think we can work together, or just about anything? I can talk about music, parenthood, and the outdoors (need adventuring suggestions? I’m your girl) for hours. Hit me up, let’s talk.
